Important change in terms & conditions of employment as of the 1st August 2022

A legislative proposal regarding the EU Directive on Transparent and Predictable Employment Conditions has recently been approved and will come into effect on the 1st August 2022.

Most significant changes concern:

  1. More complete information to be provided by employer on the essential aspects of the work
  2. Mandatory training free of charge for employee
  3. No ban on ancillary activities unless justified by an objective reason
  4. Request by employee for more predictable and secure employment conditions
  5. More clarity/certainty by employer on (partially) unpredictable working schedules

The Dutch government has drafted a fact sheet regarding the Directive on transparent and predictable working conditions in which the upcoming changes are thoroughly explained. This document is available only in Dutch:
